Gospel IQ

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

In short: Your answers, scores, and progress stay on your device. The app sends anonymous usage counts (such as how many questions were answered today) with nothing that identifies you or your device, and you can switch that off. Nothing else leaves the device unless you choose to join the optional weekly leaderboard or to email us.

Information we collect

No personal information. Gospel IQ has no user accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, or any other personal data. By default the app sends anonymous usage counts, described below, which you can turn off. Anything beyond that only happens if you choose to: join the optional leaderboard, or send us an email (both described below).

Information stored on your device

To make the app work, the following is saved locally on your device only, using your browser's or the app's built-in storage:

This information never leaves your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else; the usage counts below are tallies, not this information. You can erase all of it at any time from More → Settings → Erase all progress, or by uninstalling the app.

Reminders, backups, and emailing us

Optional weekly leaderboard

Gospel IQ includes an opt-in weekly leaderboard, off by default. If you choose to join it, three things — and only three — are sent, over an encrypted connection, to the server that runs the leaderboard:

No account, email, or device identifier is attached to this — a random id generated on your device is used only to recognize your own row on the board and is not linked to you personally. You can leave the leaderboard at any time from that screen, which deletes everything the server holds for your device. Entries leave the board when the week resets, and each week's entry is deleted from the server after eight weeks. The board's “Best week” view also keeps one small record per player — your nickname, your highest weekly XP, and which week it was — for as long as you stay on the leaderboard; it is deleted when you leave, or after a year without playing. This data is used solely to display the board and for no other purpose — no advertising or tracking, and it is not combined with the usage counts. It is never sold or shared with third parties beyond the server that runs the board.

Keeping the board friendly. Nicknames that contain offensive language are refused. Players on the board can report a nickname they find inappropriate: the report records which entry was reported and the reporting player's random id, so one person can't report the same name twice, and a name reported by more than one player is hidden from the board. Reports are kept only for that week. The publisher can also hide an entry or block a random id from the leaderboard.

Anonymous usage counts

To see how many people use Gospel IQ and which parts are useful, the app sends a few counts to our own server (the same one that runs the leaderboard), over an encrypted connection. This is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in More → Settings → Share anonymous usage counts; once off, nothing more is sent. Each message contains only:

It contains no identifier of any kind — no device id, advertising id, account, nickname, or random id — and none of your answers, scores, or setup choices. The server adds each message to daily, weekly, and monthly totals and keeps only those totals, so no record exists for any one person or device. As with any internet request, the server’s host briefly sees the connecting IP address to deliver the message; we do not store it. The totals are used only by the publisher to understand and improve the app, and are never sold or shared.

Advertising and tracking

Gospel IQ contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or trackers, and does not track you across apps or websites. The app works fully offline; it simply sends the usage counts above the next time it is online.

Network use

Typeface files, images, and app code are bundled with the app itself — Gospel IQ makes no request to any font or asset service. The only network requests the app makes are: checking for and downloading app updates; the anonymous usage counts described above (unless you turn them off); and — only if you opt in — submitting your nickname, weekly XP, and streak to the leaderboard described above.

Children

Gospel IQ is a study tool for a general audience. It is not directed at children, and its onboarding does not ask a user's age. Because the app collects no personal information, its usage counts carry no identifier, and the one optional feature that sends a name (the leaderboard) takes only a self-chosen nickname and a score, it collects nothing that identifies a child or any other user.

Content and affiliation

Gospel IQ is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Question content is drawn from the scriptures and from publicly available Church materials, with a reference provided for each question.

Deleting your data

Step-by-step instructions, and what is kept for how long, are on the delete your data page.
